   New oils silver, gold, etc are a little confusing - which oil do you recommend for mid-atlantic area - Northern Va? Is 5w 30 good for this climate? - I drive an "05 3.0i z4 - Dinan.

   Yes 5w-30 is more than adequate for your area. I always recommend to use BMW oil if possible the extra detergents and packages really are the best for your engine.
