You'll see diesels this fall as the 3 Series and X5 join the parade. The X6 is due for a hybrid in 2009 using the special transmission jointly developed with DaimlerChrysler and GM, the one that's helping 6,000-pound GM SUVs get mileage in the low 20s around city streets. So BMW has not been wrong is saying they won't be first but once they deliver, it'll be a big improvement over some of the cruder (but much earlier) hyrids.
