All, I'm hoping somebody will be able to help me here. I have a 2003 BMW E46 with 118K miles on it and the P0430 code (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)) keeps coming on. I've replaced all 4 oxygen sensor with no luck. It looks like it is the converter. Does anyone have any experience using the DEC converters from Bavarian Auto? Is there any chance it could be something else besides the converter? Thanks, Dan
If you have changed the O2's then you will need to check for exhaust leaks that could cause a false reading on the sensor. The other thing you can do is take a rubber hammer and tap the cat and listen for either a hallow noise or a rattle this would indicate the cat has failed. The other way is to remove the front and rear o2 sensor and use a scope to check to make sure the honeycomb is not damaged or melted. Bavauto converters are good but just make sure you get a 50 state legal one.
