I just purchased a 2005 325Ci convertible two weeks ago. I did not read into the phone compatibility issue till now. So now my problem is my bluetooth and stereo are in limbo mode. I can not delete or drop my cellphone and can not use the stereo. I took it in to service the issue on Friday, and was told basically the same thing. They had to do a complete diagnostic and battery reset. My ipod no longer worked on the stereo and I had assumed they dropped the phone for me and my stereo worked fine till this afternoon. I am bringing my car in to do a recheck anyways, where since they now know the issue. And since I know my phone is not compatible, I've requested to drop my phone, and fix the ipod issue. So my question is, is there a way to do a reset without having to bring the car into service again?
You can disconnect the battery terminal and let the car sit for 30 or so min. and then reconnect. That should clear out any electrical gremlins assuming they are clearable. That is probably what they meant by a battery reset. It's possible that there is a larger problem looming as stereo system failure is not a typical side-effect of Bluetooth incompatibility.
