I am getting ready to try a in dash battery replacement. I would like to make a remote battery pack. I have read that this can be done. Has anyone done this or heard of it before?

Haven't done it; have heard of it; have one of them in my car. If you have the skills to do the soldering, etc, this should be a no-brainer. The one I have had a cover section cut out so the batteries could stick through the back cover of the dash module. I would probably just run wires and mount a box instead.

If you haven't had the instruments out yet, let us know. It is very simple. I've been known to change the OBC backlight while at my kid's soccer practice using a small Swiss Army knife to remove the dash panel.
