So, I just performed trans service on a '98 323is with auto trans and all work was done correctly. I used the helps in the 101 Projects book and followed it exactly. The vehicle has north of about 210K miles on it and it did appear that the trans was NOT serviced before I opened it up. ...and now it is intermittently slipping in 2nd; reverse gear initiation is a split-second labored as well... I re-checked fluid level twice and it is correct. I am at a loss for what to do next. I did use Redline D4 as the replacement fluid. Is this a problem? Should I just not have tried to awaken a beast by opening up a GM transmission???? Help.
Better question for Mike Miller than me, but I'd tend to think if you've gotten 210k out of an auto tranny, that's 60k (or more) than you might typically expect.
