   I have a 98 m3 conv. alpine white 5 speed with black interior. Is there any way to tell from the vin number or the serial number how many of this exact car thay actually made? I know the vin tells me about some things but what does the serial number tell me

   M series production numbers.
   
   I think if you go to the M Registry site they provide production counts for all models. I'm not sure they would be able to break it down based on color.
