Any advice on the best way to remove the old gasket and install a new one? Do I need to lift the motor, or can I just lower the oil pan, remove the oil pump, and pull the pan out? What sealants are needed? Got a new gasket from CarQuest, and it has sealant already applied. Is this sufficient? Or do I need to put some more around the bolt holes? Is there a suggested torque spec and pattern? Thanks for any help.

I can't remember if the subframe is in the way on the e34 m50 cars or not. In some cases, you can lift the motor enough to squeeze the pan out. In other cases, you need a brace to support the motor so you can drop the subframe to get the pan off.
