I have a '96 740i third hand, bought from my former mech (moved). With new, balanced wheels/tires AND front end alignment the steering wheel gradually over 1-2 weeks cocked itself 20-30 degrees left and became the 'new' center. Several alignments and re-centering of the steering wheel produce the same results. The car tracks fine, just w. the wheel 20-30 degrees left! New mech (30 years) "never seen that" so I'm wondering if anyone out there has experience w. this? That is BEFORE we tear apart the whole steering column! Thanks.
