I'm new to BMW CC and am looking for an answer to the value of a 3rd Party Warranty.

I just purchased a 2000 Z-3 2.5L Roadster from a BMW dealer in Michigan. The car has 45,250 miles on it and has had 3 owners (all in the Midwest).

The dealer offered me a 3rd Party Extended Warranty from ASC. In researching online, I found a couple of offerings from Carchex. The price is between $1800 for 3 years/36,000 to $4500 for 4 years/75,000 miles. The $1800 covers drive train only and the $4500 covers "everything" including suspension, electrical, A/C, brakes, and steering.

I expect to keep this car for at 4-5 years, but only drive it about 8-10k miles each year.

Does anyone have experiences with 3rd Party Warranty companies? Good or Bad....

If you're a Costco member, they have just started offering extended warranties in some states. I would start there.
