My 2004 745 Li is leaking tranny fluid and it has 94000 miles. I can't find where to add fluid at nor the dipstick in the engine compartment. I think the fluid may be low enough to cause it to slip when you first shift into drive and I want to replace the fluid, there is tranny fluid on the floor. I have not raised the car up because am waiting for the jack pads as they where missing. I used to be a mechanic many years ago and have had various BMWs but they were all stick shift. I have to replace the sparkplugs and wanted to service the tranny at the same time, I would like to know if I need specialized tools to replace the tranny fluid and if there are suggestions why I seem to read a lot about leaky transmissions and where would they be leaking at. Any input on this subject to help me service the transmission would be greatly appreciated, also please give me suggestions as to best fluid and other things I can do to improve this job. Also, my engine compartment is very tight with the sparkplugs in a deep setting, any special tools that could help me perform this job easier? Thank you in advance for all your assistance. should be a fill and drain plug on the side of your tranny, uses a big allen socket on my car I'm not sure about the spark plugs but would a long extension help any?
Thank you, I am sure I'll be able to see it when I lift the car up, the issue with the park plugs is they are deep in the head and little room between the fenderwell and the head. Thanks for your input!
