The solution to the windows/moon roof opening by themselves is apparently replacing the door key cylinder and window acutator. Any advice on doing it (or not doing it) myself. Does this require any 'special' BMW tools?? Does the dealer have to reset the computer after the lock cylinder and actuator is replaced? I'm told that I have to take everything out of the door to replace the cylinder and actuator.
So far, I understand that to remove the door panel, I need to carefully snap the wooden trim above the arm rest out exposing some screws, lift the cap on the side mirror control to access another screw, and already found the two screws under the arm rest... are there any more hidden screws?? Next - requires removing a water seal membrane - does this always tear or can it be reused??? Any special 'need-to know' instructions on removing the window/regulator??? Any more special things to know?? Haven't done this before... but it doesn't sound too complicated. Can someone confirm this??? Thanks.
