2 year extended maintenance upgrade program on new car?

    When you purchase this program, how does the service department know you did so? Is this somehow entered into their computer system that tracks your vehicle's service history? Thanks.

    Your VIN number is probably entered into the database.

    It's not hard to put in a function that flags your dealer service records for extended warranty yes or no, especially since the dealer already uses that VIN to pull up your previous service history.

    After I bought mine last month, they entered it into the BMW computer system so that it shows up anytime any dealer brings up the cars service history. I don't know if the information is also entered onto the vehicles key through their key reader.
