When cold starting I have to crank for quite a while before the the engine will catch. It rough idles for about five seconds then runs like a clock. Starts fine when I am out and about. If I let it sit for more than about four hours, back to square one. Takes a lot of cranking to get it to catch fire. Cranks strong, though - always. This started as a cold start, very rough idle problem. Help please!
Very often long crank times are attributable to a bad check vavlve in the fuel pump. It allows the fuel to drain back out of the system and the system has to reprime each time you let it sit. This sounds like a possibility here.
