I have a 2017 M3 with the Competition package and 20" wheels with 265/30 ZR20 Front and 285/30 ZR20 Rear. I want to buy a set of Track tires & wheels for Track Day events (not racing) and would like to hear recommendations on wheel and tire sizes. Are 18" x 10" wheels all around the better choice, or 19" wheels? Will 18" x 10" wheels fit the front?

Did you talk to Tire Rack? Off topic do you play acoustic?

Along with Tire Rack, peruse the apex wheels website, they're good to talk to for checking fitment - https://www.apexraceparts.com/shop-by-vehicle/bmw/f8x-m3-m4.html

Smaller-size tires presumably should be less expensive, but you'll need the size for whatever wheels clear your brakes. If you run a square setup, that should help reduce the inherent understeer of a staggered setup, plus you can rotate around all 4 corners to help even out the wear, particularly helpful with the typical wear on the fronts. If you plan to drive to & from on them vs. toting them along & changing wheels @ the track, then you'll probably want something with some water-dispersion capability; look at ultra-high-performance summer tires, or r-comps that have some tread pattern to them vs. slicks, although they'll all wear down to be slicks anyway in time. Risk of hydroplaning is obviously a problem on tires with little tread depth, so swapping tires @ the event of course ensures you're on something suitable for the road when driving to/from.
