I have a 2000 528i that we bought new, unfortunately I don't get to drive enough. I purchased a Battery Tender Plus with a quick disconnect. The pigtail has connectors that slip over the nut on the battery post. I tried to loosen the 10mm nut and it only comes up enough to loosen the terminal and appears to not come completely off. Can I simply clip out enough of the round connector eye to slip it under the nut and re-tighten or should I remove the nut completely to install that quick disconnect. Thanks, Bruce Wayne Rasco
I'd be hard pressed to think that would be a problem, presumably all you need is enough metal-to-metal contact so the charger can, uh, charge. If you touch the connectors to where you want to put them and the charger's indicators show a proper connection and that it's charging, then presumably any connection with even more contact area should work fine too.
