I am back with BMW after an absence of several years. This is my 3rd one. I am needing some ideas on a problem. My E46, 330i, had the engine management computer, and ignition switch and immobilizer changed from a donor vehicle. It fixed the problem. However the battery in the key is weak, and I have learned that is is going to be complicated to get a couple of new keys. My local dealer will not help at all because the ignition switch is not the original. No luck finding a local locksmith to help. This is a solid vehicle in great shape. Has anyone else ever been in this situation? All responses are appreciated. Sam M
All is well now. I found a skilled locksmith that got the car back to original settings. He used the vehicle's original immobilizer to write news keys. I still had the original ignition switch so that was re-installed as well.
