I am putting a 1991 M30 engine in a 1986 e28 535, anybody aware of any suprises that I might encounter? I have the 1991 ecu as well.

    Thanks!

Is the car stick or auto? You may have to use the coolant parts of the 91 535i, however, don't hold me on that one. The stock hp on the "updated" M30 is 208 versus the "regular" M30 is around 180 something. You will feel the pick-up for sure. I had a 92 535iA (yes I know.....) but it was pretty quick. Don't let the needle creep past the middle line, or else you are looking at a blown head gasket like I had :(.

The car is a stick. Sorry about your head gasket.

    Thanks!

I think that you need to fabricate engine mounts. There were bosses that work on both car bodies on very limited engine models/years. Go to www.mye28.com and search there for the info as it has been discussed extensively.
    Good Luck!
