Alas my aging 328i has its clutch knob falling apart.. the leather is coming off and I need a new one... I am thinking of getting this nice used wooden/leather hybrid one, which they say came off a E39 M5 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...50066601107&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123 So will this fit my '97 328i? Thanks!
Hard to say but here is a way you MAY be able to research it out. Write down the last 7 digits of your VIN. Go to www.realoem.com and look up the OEM part number(s) for the OEM Selector Lever Handle (automatics) or the Gear Shift Knob(manuals) One common name: Shifter Knob Then look up the numbers for the M5 ones. If you're REALLY lucky they MAY match up. IMHO the price is probably jacked up just because (they say) it came off of an M5. You may come out ahead if you check out your local dealer pricing for a stock replacement. Make sure you ask about any BMWCCA parts pricing discount. (BTW note that it's NOT called a "clutch knob". The clutch doesn't have a knob, it has a pedal. And it's down on the floor. )
