Does anyone know what they mean? One shows the filter housing and filter with an X thru it. Just not sure what they are trying to communicate. Thanks,
Need more context - is this something in your owner's manual? Who's "they"? BMW? What year and model? Without the source you're referencing, not sure anyone here might know what you mean, except I'm guessing whoever 'they' is probably don't mean Alabama and Pennsylvania, or somebody named Al and a quaint reference to somebody's father...
The F30 N20 engine (4 cylinder) can take two different oil filters depending on if you have a plastic oil filter housing or a metal one. Hope that helps.
It is printed on the box the filter insert comes in (The inside flaps). I asked the service folks at the dealership and they had know idea. The filter insert is for a 2012 335 X-Drive Coupe.
