Moonroof Glass Shattered for "No Reason"

Today my 2011 528i M Sport moonroof glass shattered to pieces, nothing hit it and it wasn't in any extreme temperatures. Has anyone ever heard of this?

I haven't, but I wouldn't necessarily have, either - did you come up w/ anything googling?

Had rear window shatter when shut door some yrs ago. Glass guy said happens all the time. He explained cause but no longer remember, but sounded logical. Did it happen when you closed door?

There are a significant number of stories like that in the 3-series forums of bimmerfest/E90post. I don't haunt the 5-series forums so don't know about them, but my guess it's the same manufacturer so probably.

Any news on this? Were you able to get it repaired under warranty?
