I just bought a map update for my CCC based iDrive. The vendor claimed that these are the latest maps, but it's hard to know for sure, as I know and accept that they're bootleg maps, by virtue of me paying $20 instead of the $160 that BMW would ask. I've searched everywhere for this and can't find it, so am hoping someone here can guide me. How do I get the car to tell me the map version that's on the DVD?
BTW, after posting I now see the typo in the thread title and would appreciate it if a moderator can change the NVA to NAV. Thanks!
As I said, it's a bootleg copy bought off ebay without a label. I did manage to find a way to determine it by examining one of the files on the disc. Sadly, the guy sold me 2013 maps that he claimed were 2014 maps, so I've filed a dispute. I'm not sure that most people could tell the difference between 2013 and 2014 maps, but considering that I have a couple of new roads that opened up at the start of 2013 I would expect them to be included on 2014 maps that were first sold in October 2013.
2008. I couldn't find it on the car, but did find it on the DVD. The way to do it is to put the DVD in your computer, open the cdrom.toc file in a file editor. You will see an output that looks like this: As you see, the map year is listed as Customer Version: 2013. It will list the map year for other years here.
