Recently I have had a couple issues crop up on my 08 M3.
The clock started losing about a minute every 2 days and the information screen between the speedo and tach resets itself to not displaying anything after the ignition is turned off. It will still cycle between displays, but always resets itself while sitting overnight.
Could this be caused by a weak battery? There is no other indication the battery is weak (starts right up).
Has anyone else experienced this problem and know the fix?

On our Mini the Nav wouldn't go on right away. We pretty much ignored it.
    Car started fine.
I read on the internet that it's a weak battery.
You know they can't put on the internet unless it's true.

Well the battery died a month later probably due to a faulty electric power steering pump.
I replaced the battery and the Nav powered right up.

I think 5 years is about as long as batteries last these days.
Is the car outside in the cold?

    Steve,
The car sits inside at night and in Houston it is rarely below 35F.
I'll start looking into a new battery.
    Thanks,

Steve is correct the car probably has a weak battery. Your vehicle has a energy management system that will shut down less needed items as the battery voltage get lower in order to make sure the vehicle has enough power to start the car next time. If you are going to replace the battery make sure you get the new battery registered to the vehicle or it will cut your new batteries life in half.
