:confused:I have a problem with the climate control fan speed on my 96 318is.

When the car is started the blower is on full " MAX "setting even though the climate control unit shown " MIN " setting, ie, two bars. If I try to press the fan down speed button, the climate control unit will turned OFF, and if I press the fan up speed button, the climate control unit will turned ON in full blowing setting, ie, all bars are on. And if I try to adjust the fan speed down by just press the down speed button, the unit is OFF again.

Is anybody know what is caused and the fix for this kind of problem.

    thank you so much,

    raymond

Could also be a faulty capacitor in the cotrol unit. Can be repaired for about $1.00 if you can solder.

I replaced the Final Stage Unit ( aka resistor pack). Because my climate control unit is push-button digital one.

Once again thank you so much for your help.

    raymond.

PS. I will try to repair my old faulty control unit per " mooseheadm5 " suggestion. Wish me luck and I will let you know what happen even if i burn myself.
