How do you tell by the vin number the production date? I need to purchase a new brake booster and there are apparently two to choose from. They are based on the production date. My vin is WBAGC8315MDC78870 Thanks!
There are several VIN decoders available online (google for "BMW VIN decoder"), here are two: http://bmwfans.info/vin/decoder/ http://www.e34.de/vin/ Your E32 750iL was built September 1990. Nice ride! Also, the production date is stamped on the identification plate on your driver's door jamb.
Most excellent! Thank you. Now I can buy the correct one. I'm sure it will be entertaining to install it, being that there is so much room under the hood of this behemoth, but that's for another thread.
Better than a model-limited database is RealOEM.com. It includes not only the production date of your car, but its original build specification (market) and equipment (gearbox, etc). You can browse the parts fiche to see what parts are supposed to be on your car - or were, originally.
