If you plan to attend use registration link at the bottom of the description.

As always it is best to have at least one passenger with you to read the turn-by-turn directions and help navigate.

WHAT: BACK BY BMENOURMUS DEMAND PIE RUN #3 To Catoctin Mountain Orchard, http://www.catoctinmountainorchard.com in Thurmont, MD (near Camp David). People have been known to leave CMO w/ 12+ pies. They are that good. CMO is a mom & pop operation specializing in homemade pies either cooked or frozen uncooked. They also have fresh fruits, preserves, jams, jellies, dressings and cider. Since we are going at the beginning of the season everything will be in stock. Note: I highly recommend ordering your pies ahead of time since we are a large group. The pies can be ordered freshly baked (See pics in links below of DonDon's baked pies from pie run in December. Can you say pie omelet?) or uncooked frozen. Some people brought a cooler w/ them to keep their pies from sliding around in the trunk. When you place your order, reference the "BMW group" as the group you are with. The pies range in price from $8.95-$10.95. Check their site for the different types of pie.
IMPORTANT: I have spoken w/ CMO and they have asked that emails and call-in orders for baked pies be deadlined by 1 day before we arrive. Pies I have had that are good: Apple Walnut, strawberry, cherry crumb, peach, peach blueberry, blueberry, four berry.

We will then continue on to Schmankerl Stube www.schmankerlstube.com in Hagerstown for lunch. They have excellent authentic German food. The owner is from Munich. There is also a copy of their menu on the site. The restaurant comes highly recommended by Joern Esser (CA @ Passport BMW and Munich native), also everyone who went on the first two runs have had high praise for the food. The lunch menu is reasonably priced @ around $10/entree. If you want to order the Knusperige Schweinshaxe, I need to let him know two days in advance as so he can order the meat from the butcher. I know it says 24 hrs on the menu, but since he is preparing this earlier than it is usually served I have agreed to 48 hrs. People who ordered it in January could not finish the dish. Can you say doggie bag!?! DO NOT CALL THE RESTAURANT TO PLACE ORDER. LET ME KNOW VIA POST, PM or EMAIL. There is a parking garage behind the restaurant which is free on the weekends. When we did the other runs the garage was completely empty when we arrived and when we departed. So, issues w/ door ding and other damage should not be a problem. We will also have use of the biergarten.
From Schmankerl Stube we will travel to Lost Creek Vineyard in Leesburg, Va. for wine tasting. Everyone who attended had high praise for the wine selection. They have tables for sitting indoors and outdoors were some attendees purchased cheese and wine to put a cap on a great day. Afterwards you can either go home or hit the Leesburg Outlets.
The route, for those that did not get lost in January and can remember is full of fun, empty twisty roads. This will be a fun day for just a drive w/ people whom share your obsession. Here are the pics and reviews from the last two pie runs:

Meet point for those coming from Bethesda area and south whom feel they may get lost going to the Mt. we will meet at the same place as in January at Montgomery Mall on the Westlake Terrace side parking lot. So far we have 71 people registered for the Pie Run.

We have also been approved for a $10 subsidy per CCA member (as always this includes our associate members) for lunch.

If you have not registered please do so here: http://www.nccbmwcca.org/index.php?option=com_form&form_id=13

If you are a CCA member and have CCA members riding with you, then you can either:
    1. Register and include the CCA member in your guest count with your non-memeber guest. Then send me an email with their names and member number.

    OR
    2. You register and include the non-members riding with you in your guest count. And have the CCA members register individually and put zero guest.

If you have questions please don't hesitate to PM or email me.
