Very well put. It is entirely possible that it wil not really matter who wins. The economy will do what it does, the country will go on as it does, and the status quo will prevail, as it does. No matter which side you are on, you should see that real change takes decades or catastrophe.

I'm not sure that the world has yet seen a benevolent dictator; they say absolute power corrupts absolutely - I tend to agree with that premise! Of course, for many, getting past the presidential election season is a relief. Then, we can have a whole 6 months before the next congressional election cycle stirrings begin again!

I think you may have been misled about how corporate welfare is socialism. For the record, I work two jobs, am fiscally conservative, and think that McCain is not the correct choice.
I did not say he was the "correct" choice either, but he is no socialist and Obama is! Listen to his "redistribution of wealth" comment to Joe the plumber. If you think Obama is the correct choice you have not done your homework.
McCain would rather redistribute our wealth to the people that caused the financial crisis in the first place. I think I will refrain from further comment. Ask me a question about cars.
A decision he made that I do not support, however Obama made that same decision and wants socialism. McCain is the lesser of the two evils in my book, but the degree of lesser is far less than Obama. I am confused how you can be "fiscally conservative" and favor Obama?
Um, the peopel that caused the finaincial crisis are on Obama's staff, from Penny Pritzker (who was instrumental in starting the subprime mortgage fiasco and is now Obama's financial advisor) to Obama himself, who recieved over a hundred grand in lobbyist dollars from mannie mae to say that there was nothing wrong with it back in '03-05 when Bush and Mccain tried to push forward legislation to apply oversight to Freddie and Fannie. And of course, Obama is supported by Chris Dodd and Barney Frank, two of the other masterminds of the Freddie/Fannie fiasco (who both said nothing was wrong with either institution and anyone who wanted to "fix" the problem was a racist who wanted to deprive poor black people of home ownership). We spend 20% of our budget on the military, but 60+ % on welfare/Social Security. Obama wants to up the spending on handout programs, while barely cutting the military (he wants out of Iraq, but wants to play hardball with Afghanistan and Iran), and then says he's going to cut taxes to pay for it. During the Hillary/Obama debate this point came right out as in one question Obama pledged no tax increase for people under $250k and then in the next question explained his capital gains tax increase from 19.5 to 35%. He was called out on it by the moderator since people making under $250k DO INVEST MONEY and said "Well, we can't get everything for free". While I don't feel McCain is up to the task, Obama's politics scare me, and his advisors and backing are worse. Romney woudl have been better, and even as kooky as many of Ron pauls fans are, I'd love to write him in as my candidate...
Actually, my 77 Goldwing is the daily, but the ti is the weapon of choice these days. Arguing with people on a forum is pointless. You can no more sway my choice as I can yours. Do vote, though, all of you. It is important and too may people have had a lax attitude about it, which is why there are so many bad policies in effect from both side.
My teacher for transmissions/transaxles rides a Goldwing. He has that and a Datsun 2000 with a 350 V8 in it. I'm not too fond of big engines in small cars though, ruins the balance.
