    Hi Folks,

Bought a 2018 540 CPO last year. Love it, after many years in an E. Lightly driven. noticed mild creaking on left turns, parking lot speed. Dealer diagnosed replacement of both left tie rod and rack and pinion. Just wondering....any thoughts on this? Sees unusual but I guess happens? Thank you.

The 80's era bimmers I wouldn't expect rack & pinion issues like that at that kind of mileage, but, it ain't the 80's or 90's no more neither... I blew through a deeply puddled section of roadway a few years ago in my '13 X1 and it bent up something in the steering linkages, so, ya, seems like anything can happen despite expectations and prior experience. If the car was subjected to a lot of potholes etc in it's prior life, perhaps that could be a cause, but, hard to tell really what could cause such a problem if you know you didn't have anything specific happen.
