I've had the Service Engine Soon on for a bit.
Figured it was just due for an oil change since the odo was counting down on start.
Noticed it wasn't counting down anymore. I'm not the only driver.

    So...
    Changed the oil/filter.
    Reset the oil inspection interval.
    Still says Service Engine Soon.
I believe the reset worked because it now says Inspection next.
    Hadn't noticed that before.

Short of having the codes scanned, maybe I didn't reset it properly afterall?

The service engine soon light will have nothing to do with your service interval. Read your codes out, is your vehicle running ok?

Car is running fine. Oil interval is now 15000 according to the reset.
In the past the Service light was related to a service interval. Oil or Inspection.
Reset the the interval and lights out.

    Could be hundreds of things.
I'll take it to Advance and see if they can scan it for me.

Bought a new OBD-II to Blue Tooth from scan link.
    Code P0128.
    It was an open t-stat.
A bit of a PITA as everything on the Mini.
I read various DIY articles and glanced through Bentley.
Took a few hours. All is good now.
It is not necessary to drain all the coolant despite what some writeups say.
I lost maybe a quart including draining the coolant reservoir that I replaced.
Also replaced the t-stat housing while I was in there.
