I replaced my outside temperature sensor yesterday and it still reads -40*. I hooked it to the wires blue/red and blue/brown, which I verified in my Bentley wiring diagrams to be correct. I checked the connections. How do I track down the short? It is keeping my AC from coming on, I think. It is getting hot!

I'm no rocket surgeon (but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night), but I don't think the exterior temp sensor has anything at all to do with your a/c. It is merely informational. The a/c problem is something else.

Indeed, you are not a rocket surgeon!

Guess what, the temp sensor needs to be driven (not just turned on but actually driven) to be recognized. Once that has been done, voila! the AC works again.
