Wheel and tire hazzard insurance I purchased a tire and wheel protection plan from my dealer when taking delivery of our new 08 530i and boy am I glad I did. After about 18,000 miles I must have driven over a case of drywall screws that fell off a contractors truck. They must have pulled about 15 screws out of the 4-tires, ruined the runflats. Next day the insurance adjuster paid a vist to Costco and approved the claim, that was happy ending to a potentialy sad story. I would buy this type of insurance before spending money on an extended warranty. Norm...
BMW dealers are independent. BMW can't tell them what to sell a car for, or a warranty. FWIW, it is actually sold by an outside company using BMW's name and backing. Cost is usually similar to one wheel and tire and they usually pay-off without much argument.
