How much should I expect to pay for a factory replacement battery for a 2005 545i sport? Any idea on the life expectancy of the original?
If you '05 has the original battery I would say a) wow! and b) 5 years is about right, especially the way the E60 consumes power even while parked.
a) A lot. Maybe a couple hundred, but I never priced one. b) About 5 years, if you're lucky. Why do people complain about replacing stuff that's a consumable that reached the end of its productive life? It used to be, you'd be lucky to get three years out of a battery - any battery.
