The button that you push in to release the e-brake has failed :(. The e-brake still works (ie the car will stop) but only if the handle is kept up, meaning no clicking/ticking sound when the handle is lifted. The button, along with a wire that has a spring now comes out of the handle unit. I removed the leather boot and I see lots of stuff, only I don't know what I am looking at. The other end of the wire has a black plastic hook that is broken. I believe I need a new button/wire/hook but how do I go about installing it? The Bentley is silent on this.
