2001 330 ci premium and sport options manual trans 65K miles At times the fan seems to go through a rapid non-aggressive cycle of increasing and decreasing - both in automatic and manual modes. Additionally, at times when the ignition is turned off and key removed the fan continues of run at a very low speed. Sometimes it stops on its own after 20-40 sec. Other times I have to manually turn on and off several times. All other aspects of the A/C and heat appear to function properly. I suspect some sort of control issue - any idea where and how to adjust/replace?
VERY common problem...you need a replacement of the final stage item/thingy. Not sure exactly what it's called (I'm sure the corrections will begin shortly after I post this...) Anyway, I had the exact same issue a few months back. It doesn't appear to be a big problem until one day you go to start the car and find out your battery's dead (because the fan would run on its own - even when the car is not running). Moral - get it checked out and fixed right away!
That's not what Chris demonstrated. Took him an hour just to get it loose, and that doesn't include him taking it out. Don't let his incompetence discourage you!
