e39 M5 rearview mirror

    Does anyone have any suggestions to fix/replace an auto dimming rearview mirror that has separated into a dark level and light level and no longer functions as auto dimming? The dealer wants $730 to replace.

    Boneyard or eBay. If your auto dimming function isn't working there is no fixing it.

    There was a thread on this on m5board.com. It appears that the original equipment manufacturer of these mirrors is replacing them free of charge- I have forgotten their name, but a search of the m5board.com site should provide all that you need.

    Thanks, apparently they stopped replacing them in Jan. of this yr.

    That is unfortunate- I hope the one in my 540i remains OK.
