When I attempt to activate the remote keyless entry, 3 chirps sound and no locking occurs. At this Z3's last service, I had the technician examine this problem. He thought it had to do with the hood and the keyless entry functioned again albeit temporarily. I can manually lock the car. However the keyless entry malfunctions to this day. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks, Cristina
On my E36 M3, it will chirp 3 times when I try to lock it if a door/hood/trunk is open. Maybe your hood microswitch isn't working right and is telling the system your hood is open? Did he replace the switch under the hood?
I've heard that explanation several times over on the Bimmerforums Z3 Forum. Check the switch with an ohmeter.
