I have the honor of making the first post on the type 114 (2002 and related cars) forum for the CCA. Hope this will become a place where all of us 02ers can hang out, swap information and tech tips, solve all those niggly problems that arise when your car is at least 31 years old, and generally enjoy each other's company. Besides, some of your car problems may end up in a column. My own cars can break just so many times, so I'm always looking for those oddball glitches that make interesting reading for those who peruse the Roundel.

We have snow predicted for the weekend in SW Ohio, so the 02ing season in salt country is winding down--it's withdrawal symptoms for the next three or four months, unless we have little snow and even less salt.

Anyone have any good tips for putting your 02 to sleep for the winter so that all systems will be go when the last of the road salt disappears--long about April?

cheers, and welcome to the forum...

Mike - Every winter, I've just put a little gas preservative in the tank. And on a nice, weekend day (like this Saturday), I will lift the car cover, warm the 2002 and its E36 cabrio stablemate up and drive each one out into the sunshine before putting them back in their garage cave.
