Gathering of the Heritage

July 27, 2014
The sun is starting to show its face a bit more these days, which means a lot of Club events are about to occur! There are only a few more months until our 34th Annual BMW Gathering of the Heritage event. Come out and be part of the history and beauty that make up BMW’s Heritage. This continues to be a special day for all BMW owners to come together and enjoy each other’s company while displaying their cars at their very best. Our featured cars will be any model of BMW that is 25-years-old (or older). For models that span the 25-year-mark (i.e. 1989), we are selecting the ones that had a majority of their production run before 1989. To clarify, any E30 3 Series (1982-1994), E24 6 Series (1976-1989) and E32 7 Series (1986-1994) will be considered featured cars, but the Z1 (1989-1991), E34 5 Series (1988-1996) and E31 8 Series (1989-1999) will not. Hagerty Insurance is one our main event sponsors and they specialize in insuring classic and collectable cars. For this reason, they will be judging and selecting the "Featured Car" award. Parking on the Field/People’s Choice This year, you have two options to park on the field. The first is to have your car registered to be judged, which guarantees your prominent spot on the field. The second is to simply show up and park your car on the field (free for Club members, $10 for non-club members —which gets reimbursed if you sign up to be a BMW CCA member the day-of show). Club members MUST show their Annual Event: Gathering of the Heritage current membership card at the entry gate! The only “catch” is that once the field is full, you’re out of luck—so arrive early! Gates open at 9:30 am. Those cars that are lucky enough to make it onto the field are eligible to win the People’s Choice Award. Cars will be judged only on cleanliness and condition, not on originality. The judging criteria can be reviewed on the Club’s website. To participate in the judged classes you must be a member of BMW CCA, BMW ACA or Canadian BMW CCBC. Cars are judged in three major areas: exterior, interior (including trunk) and engine bay. The underside of the car is not considered. We use a three-member team whose independent results are totaled to determine a score for each judged entry. This process is designed to be as fair and objective as possible. For class competition there are bonus points for mileage, which evens out the competition for high versus low mileage cars.
