Driver School & Instructor Training School

Start the season off right with our Driver School and Instructor Training School. We are again holding the event at New Jersey Motorsports Park to make it easier for our members to attend but we are now on Thunderbolt! Thunderbolt Raceway is a 14-turn, 2.25-mile road course designed by the owners of VIR with help from the legendary Carroll Shelby. Since 2008 a number of professional racing series have held events at Thunderbolt Raceway. • Driver School: For this year, we are accepting students at all skill levels. If you attended our Introduction to the Track event last October (either as a First-timer or a seasoned veteran), come on out, knock the rust off your driving and reinforce all the good things you learned. Note that the Driver School portion of the event will have only 2 student run groups so there may be a somewhat broader range of skill in each run group. • Instructor Training School: Participation in the Instructor Training School is by invitation only. The Instructor Training School is for advanced students who have shown a high level of driving skill, an understanding of driving dynamics and a desire to teach. The program is a rigorous two days of on-track and classroom instruction and role-playing. If you have been invited, you can register online. Please be sure to use the ITS Candidate registration radio button so you are properly enrolled. Your acceptance will be subject to approval by the ITS Coordinator and Chief Instructor. If you believe that you are a candidate for the ITS and have not been invited, please e-mail the Chief Instructor. ITS candidates should plan to bring the car they usually use for driver schools as a portion of the evaluation process requires candidates to drive their vehicle. • For 2015, registration for all NJ Chapter on-track events will be via Motorsportreg.com. If you are already a member of Motorsportreg, this will greatly simplify your registration process and you know what to do. If you are not a member of Motorsportreg, sign-up is simple. Just follow their directions.
