Loess Hills Fall Driving Tour

October 08, 2017
We invite you to join us for a driving tour that will celebrate some of the great roads and wonderful scenery that we have available to us here in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. This event will allow each of us to enjoy our cars as we tour some of the less traveled roads in our area. We will also have the opportunity to see geologic formations that are unique to our region. The event will include an organized drive through the Loess Hills. The format of the drive has changed this year. Participants will be provided with a list of suggested destinations, and can choose which destinations to visit, and in what order.  Maps of western Iowa and/or a GPS navigation system will be needed to create and follow the routes chosen.  Having a co-driver/navigator to use the maps and/or input locations into the GPS navigation system is highly recommended.  In addition, participants are welcome to drive as part of a group, and lead or follow the group. We plan to gather in the morning at a shopping center that includes a gas station, a convenience store, and a popular diner (Sugar’s Diner) so we can all meet, catch up with each other, get provisions, and of course kick tires and see each others’ cars. We will also distribute the list of suggested destinations at that time. The Driving Tour will likely take about 3 hours, and we will end at a restaurant where we will all meet up for a mid-day dinner.
