Description

Selling my 2002 BMW M5. This is a well cared for, completely stock E39 M5 that has been enjoyed as a driver's car rather than treated as a garage queen.

The car has 96,700 miles and three owners from new, with the last seven years in my care. I've put approximately 17,400 miles on it during that time.

As a BMW CCA member, I’ve always treated this M5 the way these cars deserve. It’s a true driver’s car, but it hasn’t been tracked or abused. Every spirited drive began only after full oil temperature warm up, and the car has never been subjected to anything beyond responsible enjoyment.

The car is sorted and runs and drives very well, with a strong history of regular maintenance. Major recent work includes a clutch, flywheel, rear main seal and crankshaft seal in 2020, Michelin Pilot All Season 4 tires in 2023, regular oil services and NYS inspections. The car has also had consistent maintenance throughout its life, including service performed by BMW of Rochester.
It remains completely stock, retaining the combination that makes the E39 M5 special: S62 V8, 6 speed manual transmission and rear wheel drive.

Condition
This is a well cared for driver's car, not a concours car. There are some cosmetic imperfections consistent with its age, including rock chips and clear coat failure on the rear bumper. I have intentionally left the car unpainted rather than cosmetically restoring it.
There are also a few known minor items that I want to be upfront about:
• The rear brake pads have been noted as getting low for several years. They have not yet required replacement and the car has continued to pass NYS inspections.
• The driver's seat has the common E39 seat twist issue.
• The A/C button is loose/broken, although the A/C system itself works properly.
• There are other minor age related imperfections that are documented in the photos.
None of these have prevented me from enjoying the car, and I would describe it overall as a sorted, mechanically enjoyable driver's car.
