Blue Ridge Chapter Brunch

Meeting UID:
586

For 2013 the annual brunch once again returns to Charlottesville. But, we're going to change it up a bit this year from our usual location and try a downtown locale on Charlottesville?s brick-lined downtown mall. The newest event space in town is also one of the oldest. The Old Metropolitan Hall is a former watering hole popular in the 1940s and 50s and has mutated into countless forms since. But, the old spot has been given new life and is currently being renovated to serve as a premier event space with vintage design touches.

Just announced! We will have a special guest speaker at the brunch this year. Roundel columnist Rob Siegel will be joining us as a special guest speaker! Rob will be entertaining us with selections from his soon to be released book ?Memoirs of a Hack Mechanic: How Fixing BMWs Saved My Sanity.?

The brunch will take place on Sunday, March 3rd starting at 11am and ending at 2pm. We will have a cash bar in the Old Metropolitan Hall?s downstairs lounge area where you can also place bids on silent auction items (to benefit our 2013 Teen Street Survival) and enjoy some casual live music as well. We will begin serving our catered brunch at 11:45. Elections for club officer positions will also be held at the brunch. If you?d like to nominate someone or volunteer to run as an officer, please see the nomination form in this issue or contact Brad at ub3r02@yahoo.com

Tickets to the brunch are $30 per person and each member may bring one non-member guest. We are limiting the headcount to 90 people this year so please get your RSVPs and checks in early! A RSVP form can be found in the winter issue of the newsletter (click here to download it), please mail it to the chapter mailbox with your check and be sure to fill out the e-mail and phone # information so that we may contact you with updates as the event approaches. The deadline for RSVPs is February 20th!

The Old Metropolitan Hall is located on Charlottesville?s historic downtown mall at 101 East Main Street just next to Hamilton?s. There are multiple parking lot options as well as off street parking. A metered parking lot (free on Sunday) is located on Water Street between 1st and 2nd street and is only a one block walk from the venue. A pay lot and pay garage are located on Water Street as well.
