Need to see if anyone has run into this problem. Our 1998 M3 clutch pedal shifts from side to side when you push down on the clutch. It feels to me like there is a bushing that is worn out. BMW as usual says the entire pedal assemble must be replaced. Are there bushings available ??? Thanks Bud Anderson
I made a bushing for mine. Check this article: http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e36/drivetrain/e36_remove_clutch_pedal_slop.html Should be an easy fix if you feel like messing with it. Good luck.
I bought a set or Delrin bushings from UUC I believe. I've never installed them though. It could also be your clutch stop. I homemade one, $5. Instructions for one design are also on Unofficial. Since installing mine, 3 years ago, I have had no issues. The clutch stop is infinitely easier to install than clutch arm bushings so you might want to start there. Mine is a rubber stopper with a hole, a bolt, a couple of big washers and a couple of nuts.
Jeron Thanks for the help. I tried the pedal stop first. I will try making the stop bigger. I just can't believe that BMW would design a pedal with that much slop in it !!! Thanks again Bud
