Has any one removed one of these? Bently says to drop the diff a bit then press it out. I have the diff off of the car so it is accesible, but what do I use to press it out? I would like to leave the diff cover on but if necessary I'll remove the cover and then maybe I can get a shop to press it out. I have a IE urethane diff mount bushing ready to go in. Looking for advice on how to best proceed. Thank you!
Something like some of these perhaps: http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result/?category=&q=hydraulic press Maybe there's portable versions that would work? Not sure --- from a google search: http://www.berco.com/html/pp100.html Call a shop before you pull the diff cover, maybe they could do it without you having to do that. But, ya, awkward to have to move a diff around like that. I can't tell you what to use to actually press the bushing out.
Manually removing/reinstalling bushings like this are a major pain without a press. You can remove them by carefully cutting from the inside with a Sawzall. However, putting the new one in is near impossible without the press. This is one of those jobs I leave to a shop with special tools: its not that much labor so shouldn't cost much.
