Cleaning Products

I'm just looking for information on the best cleaning products to use. I currently use meguiars wax and acid free wheel cleaner on my 88 and 90 E-30s. What about window cleaners; using Windex and rain guard, anything better? My real issue is what to clean the engine with and not damage the stock look to the components. Any recommendations?

I'm trying to maintain the garage clean image as much as possible. I even rolled the dice and drove the 90 to work today.
