525i / 525ia

    whats the difference between the two, I have the 2003 525IA, well so the vin sticker says,
    But the tag on the trunk lit is 525I. Thanks for all you help.

    iA isn't actually used on the badge on the boot. A is just the designation for an automatic transmission and usually only shows up on that sticker you mention.

    So, 325iA, 525iA, 540iA, or any other A ending would signify an auto tranny. I don't know why the auto's get a special name, but it's how BMW rolls.
