Description
1997 BMW e36 M3 4 door sedan for sale. BMW CCA member owned (the 3rd - all owners have been adult BMW CCA members and enthusiasts). 159k. Techno Violet M3/4/5 - manual transmission. Dove gray interior. Manual seats. I'd say the interior is a 6.5/7 out of 10. There is a small tear in the driver seat - about 1". Bolsters actually are pretty good. Not awful, and better than a lot of Dove interiors I've seen, but not as nice as you typically find black interiors. A bit of elbow grease and leather cleaner/conditions would likely bring them up to a 9.
Exterior is in pretty darn good shape for the age of the car. There are a few scratches (nothing major) and other flaws, but overall it's great. The lower front dam has the typical road chips. And the Techno Violet absolutely shimmers in the sun!
Over $4,000 in documented recent service (past 9 months). Only reason I'm selling is to purchase another M3 coupe that is set up for serious track use. Upgrades include:
- Rogue Short shifter
- SuperSprint exhaust (great tone)
- Bilstein sport suspension
- Dunlap Star Spec rears / Yokohama S.drive fronts (have a full spare in the trunk on DSII rim - never used. also have extra S.drive tire)
- AFE filter/CAI
- Pagid Orange pads - the squeak a bit, but they stop like no tomorrow!
- X-brace
- Brembo high temp brake fluid
- Euro headlights - bright!
Recent works includes proactive head gasket replacement (very expensive) and all the goodies that go w/ it (seals, water pump, plugs, thermostat, etc), installation of Rogue short shifter, lower control arm bushings. radiator hoses, power steering hoses, guibo, etc. Have receipts for this work as well as previous owner service records. Has 2 keys and OEM books. The engine light is currently on due to 02 sensor. Also, the rear part of the headliner is starting to sag. Not too bad, but it will eventually need replacement. Lastly, the stock radio display has gone to the ghost.
Car is a well taken care of weekend warrior. It has seen 2 track days at ORP and a hillclimb event at Maryhill Loops (WA) since I've owned it - all club events. Driven spirited but not flogged. She performed wonderfully and is an absolute blast to drive. Suffice to say, I'm hooked on the HPDE scene, so rather than go through the time, effort, and expense to outfit it for more serious track use, I'd rather sell and buy something more turn-key. I'm about 13k into this car (purchased in May and immediately did all the service). I don't expect to get anywhere close to what I have in it, but also can't take more of a loss than the asking price. There aren't too many M3/4/5 Techno's out there, so for the right person, this will be a peach. Any questions, please let me know.
